As a watercolor artist, I feel that I have within me, a vision of enhanced organic colors and refined natural images that are the byproduct of my environmental upbringing. I have spent half a century exploring these nautical and botanical visions and learning how to balance color and symmetry into works of art that are of my own exclusive style of surrealism. I am inspired by the vivid colors of nature and her raw, natural topography. I have always been held captive by the sheer beauty of explosive sunset skies and the movement and reflective colors of clouds at sunset. I am always humbled and awe inspired by the natural order of the mountains and the seas and how they correlate to the heavens above. I love the Pacific Ocean and I love Yosemite.
I believe that these influences have led me to a vision of how I interpret the world around me. Rather than place an emphasis on exacting replications, my focus as an artist is in the realm of the surreal. In many of my surrealistic works, I incorporate a parallel universe that is a counterpoint of an initial vision. While most of my works incorporate a marine hue of blues and greens, I also use the basic colors of the rainbow to emphasize symmetry and balance within a somewhat conservative color scheme and spectrum. In the end, I'm always looking for a vision that forces the spectator to use their own imagination in interpreting my art works. Quite simply, I invite the spectator to come into my personal psychosis of how I envision the world.
